2026 EXHITBITOR SUBMISSIONS DEADLINE

Entries to be postmarked by Saturday, August 29th or emailed to [email protected] no later than midnight on August 31st. Electronic entry submission is available at www.assistexpo.ca/orono-fair. Online entries will shut down at midnight on August 31st, and late entries for most classes (excluding animals) will not be accepted. In-person drop off during fair week will not be accepted either, we kindly ask that you enter online, email or mail in your entries.

Our Office Administrator will be available in the portable building on the grounds from 10am – 2pm, Saturday, August 29th and Sunday, August 30 for last-minute drop-offs of paper copy entries.

BEEF CATTLE CLASSES 20 to 25

Rules and Regulations:

  1. Exhibits of all beef cattle must be on the grounds by 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 12th and remain until  5:00 p.m.
  1. All pedigrees to be checked at the Fair.
  2. Exhibitors to supply own bedding.
  3. Each breeding unit is allowed a maximum of 10 exhibits excluding the Breeder’s Herd and Get of Sire classes.
  1. All animals must be legibly tattooed.
  2. Exhibitors may show two exhibits per class in a maximum of three classes. Breeder’s Herd and Get of Sire classes excluded.
  1. All Exhibitors and participants must carry sufficient Public Liability Insurance.
  1. The Society will not be responsible for any accidents.


Beef Show Regulations – Federal Livestock

Classification:

  1. Each breed to be shown separately (where applicable).
  2. There must be at least three exhibitors per breed and twenty-four exhibits per breed.
  1. All entries must be owned by and registered in the name of the Exhibitor.
  1. If less than three exhibitors per breed show and twenty- four exhibits shown, only half the prize money will be available and paid.


Prize Money (Classes 20-24): $75.00; $60.00; $50.00; 
$45.00; $40.00; $35.00; $30.00; $28.00.

CLASS 20 – ANGUS

CLASS 21 – CHAROLAIS

CLASS 22 – HEREFORD

CLASS 23 – SIMMENTAL

CLASS 24 – ANY OTHER PUREBRED BEEF BREED

SECTIONS:

  1. Bull Calf born on or after January 1, 2026, minimum of three months of age on day of judging.
  1. Bull yearling born April 1, 2025 – Dec. 31, 2025.
  2. Bull Yearling born January 1, 2025 – Mar. 31, 2025.
  3. Bull born January 1, 2024 – Dec. 31, 2024.

RIBBONS ONLY

  1. Female calf born on or after January 1, 2026, minimum of three months of age on day of judging.
  1. Female heifer born April. 1, 2025 – Dec. 31, 2025.
  2. Female heifer born January. 1, 2025 – Mar. 31, 2025.
  3. Female born January. 1, 2024 – Dec. 31, 2024, with her own 2026 natural purebred tattooed calf at foot. Female and calf shall be shown as a unit except that the calf is eligible to be shown as a single animal in sections 10 or 11.
  1. Female born prior to January 1, 2024, with her own 2026 natural purebred tattooed calf at foot. Female and calf shall be shown as a unit except that the calf is eligible to be shown as a single animal in sections 10 or 11.
  1. Breeders Herd- Four animals exhibited, both sexes represented. Animals must be shown in previous 14 sections.
  1. Get of Sire- A group of three animals from the same sire, both sexes represented, at least one animal owned by the exhibitor, animals must be shown in previous classes. Limited to one exhibit per exhibitor.

Durham Farmers’ Co-op Banner to be presented to the Supreme Champion Bull of all breeds and to the Supreme Champion Female of all breeds.


JUNIOR BEEF CALF SHOW

CLASS 26

Rules and Regulations:

Calf must be born after January 1, 2026. It may be a heifer or bull. It may be exhibited by a boy or girl. The calf is to

be trained and fitted by the exhibitor and be owned by the exhibitor or exhibitor’s family.

SECTIONS:
1. Ages 9 and under

Prizes: $10.00; $9.00; $8.00; $7.00; $6.00 to each competitor
Showmanship – 1st prize receives a trophy.

  1. Ages 10 to 12 years

Prizes: $10.00; $9.00; $8.00; $7.00; $6.00 to each competitor.
Showmanship – 1st prize receives a trophy, donated in memory of Bill Hooey. Bill was always interested in getting kids interested
in beef cattle.

  1. Ages 13 to 16 years

Prizes: $10.00; $9.00; $8.00; $7.00; $6.00 to each competitor.

Showmanship – 1st prize receives a trophy.

4. Senior, Ages 17 to 21

Prizes: $10.00; $9.00; $8.00; $7.00; $6.00 to each competitor.
Showmanship – 1st prize receives a trophy.
