It always has been a fun time for us as we enter into many of the competitions. Getting them ready, handing them to the committee members and then returning later to see where you placed. Also the opportunity to work nd play with our neighbours and friends as we volunteer at the fair. Is enriching and valuable time for everyone. John O'Toole, MPP - Durham - July 16, 2008, 10:49 am Celebrate our outstanding agricultural heritage and our strong community traditions. Come to the fair! The Durham Central (Orono) Fair is a great show for all ages. Whether it’s the traditional livestock and homecraft displays, the exhibitions, the grandstand entertainment or the midway, there’s plenty for the whole family to enjoy. Congratulations to the volunteers, sponsors and exhibitors who work very hard throughout the year to ensure the Orono Fair weekend is a success. I have many fond memories of the fair, as a parent, grandparent, former municipal councillor, Member of Provincial Parliament and occasional “celebrity” contestant in the Milking Contest. I always look forward to the fair. John O’Toole, MPP - Durham Sara Gilroy - July 9, 2008, 8:14 am I have many memories of Orono Fair. I have been attending the fair since I was a little girl. It has always been the families home fair. A few memories are showing cows in the black and white show thursday nights, exhibiting in the fair, participating in the 4-H competitions, eating lunch at the Junior Farmers Booth and more. Now Iam helping my own chidlren create fond memories of their home fair. I hope to see you all at the fair this year and don't forget to get your lunch at the Junior Farmer's booth and ice cream for dessert. Mary Ann Found - July 3, 2008, 1:12 pm The fair has great memories for me dating back to the days of the horse races. It was an honour to win the Jack Reid Memorial Trot with my horse, Maston's Pride, which had been raised by a member of the Reid family. Though the races are no more, I still enjoy every aspect of the fair, from the old acquaintances to the new friends you meet. It's a community affair. Come out and join the fun! Mayor Jim Abernethy - July 2, 2008, 4:51 pm Our ancestors gifted to us the great inheritance of a community rich in agricultural heritage. The Durham Central Fair is a celebration of that heritage. The Mayor and Council of the Municipality of Clarington congratulate the Board of Directors and the members of the various committees who volunteer their time each year to make this event a success. Thank you for 156 years of stewardship! Sincerely, Mayor Jim Abernethy. Bev Oda - July 2, 2008, 1:04 pm I always enjoy attending the Durham Central Fair in Orono. The fair gives us an opportunity to get together with friends and neighbours - as well as visitors from other areas – to celebrate all our great community has to offer. See you at the fair! Dave Found - July 1, 2008, 1:11 pm Hello everyone, I would like to start off this guest book by telling everyone about how every year I always look forward to coming to this great fair. My favourite memory was becoming the first male ambassador to our fair because it was such a great experience and so much fun. Hope to see everyone out this year! |
